Swiss Christmas Treats
A Christmas tradition in our family...
ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/2 cup flake coconut
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, chopped
- 1 pkg. (6oz.) chocolate chips
- Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- Milk, enough to make a thin spreadable glaze

Cream together butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until light. Blend together flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly mix into the butter mixture. Add remaining ingredients except the glaze

Pat mixture into a greased and floured 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 for about 20 minutes, do not over bake or the bars will be dry.

When bars are cool mix glaze ingredients together and spread over bars.
