ingredients

  • 3 c. dried medium noodles
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 (8 oz. each) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. dried basil, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. chopped onion
  • 10 oz. pkg. frozen chopped spinach, cooked and drained
  • 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

    Grease 2 qt. casserole; set aside.

    Cook noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.

    In skillet cook beef til brown; drain. Stir in tomato sauce, basil, sugar, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes.

    In medium bowl beat together sour cream and cream cheese with an electric mixer on medium until smooth. Stir in milk and onion.

    In prepared casserole dish layer half of noodles, half of meat, half of cream cheese mixture and all of the spinach. Top with remaining meat mixture and noodles.

    Cover and chill remaining cream cheese mixture.

    Cover casserole dish with lightly greased aluminum foil. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.

    Uncover and spread on remaining cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese.

  • 9

    Bake uncovered about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
