ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 sticks butter
- 2 eggs beaten
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup buttermilk with 1/2 tsp baking soda added to it
directions
- 1
Cream together sugars, butter and eggs.
- 2
Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- 3
Add sifted mixture to sugar mixture. Add vanilla. Add buttermilk.
- 4
Cover and place in refrigerator overnight.

Put dough on lightly floured bread board. Pat or roll out and cut out in desired shapes. Use only 1/3 dough at a time to prevent over flouring the dough. This is a “wet” dough. Drinking glasses make nice cookie cutters if you don’t have holiday cookie cutters.
- 6
Bake cookies 8-10 minutes in 350 degree oven. Let cool and ice with homemade buttercream icing.
