Bread (Oyster) Dressing

ingredients

  • 1 large loaf of bread, cut into cubes
  • 1 can chicken broth, large
  • 1 c. celery, chopped
  • 1 c. onion, chopped
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • sage
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 pint of oysters (optional)

    Cut the loaf of bread into large cubes. Let it sit out to dry overnight.

    Boil chopped celery and onions in the chicken broth until tender. Remove the mixture from the heat, add the bread, and stir in the butter. Add sage, salt, and pepper to taste. Add the eggs and mix well.

    Pour the mixture into a 9x11 baking dish. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

    *1 pint of oysters can be added to the mixture before baking.
