  • 1 lg ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 6 oz. tomato paste
  • 16 oz tomato sauce
  • 10 1/2 oz. tomato puree
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8-10 lasagna noodles
  • Cheese:
  • 1 lb ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 T. parsley flakes
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese sliced

    Brown meats and onions, drain. Ina large saucepan combine the paste, sauce, puree, wine and seasonings. Add meat mixture and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes. Cook noodles according to pdg. directions. Combine all ingredients in cheese mixture, except the Mozzarella cheese.

    Preheat oven to 375. Use ungreased 9x13 pan. Place half noodles in pan, cover with half the cheese mixture and half the mozzarella cheese and half the meat sauce. Repeat. Sprinkle top generously with additional Parmesan cheese if desired. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes. Let set 10 minutes before cutting
