Black Beans and Rice
This is Maya’s favorite meal I make!
ingredients
Black Beans- 2 cans black beans (not drained)
- 1 can chopped tomatoes(not drained)
- 1 large onion chopped
- 1 bell pepper chopped
- 2 to 3 cloves of garlic pressed
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 to 2 cups of rice
- water
- butter or olive oil
- salt

Saute the onions,pepper,and garlic over medium heat until soft.

Add the cumin and mustard and saute for 1 minute.

Add the beans and tomatoes.

Let simmer while the rice cooks.
Cook the rice according to directions on package.
