Arlene's Rich Hot Rolls
Taylor’s favorite part of any meal!
ingredients
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar plus 1 tsp
- 2 pkgs dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water (110°-115°)
- 4 1/4 to 4 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 cup shortening or margarine
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs

Scald milk (heat in microwave about 1 minute); add shortening or margarine, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Sprinkle yeast on water and 1 tsp sugar, stir to dissolve. Let stand about 5 minutes to proof yeast.

Add 1 1/2 cups flour to milk mixture, beat well about 1 minute. Beat in eggs and yeast mixture. Gradually add remaining flour until dough leaves the side of the bowl. Knead 5-8 minutes. Cover and let rise to double. Grease a 9 x 13 pan. Shape rolls and allow to rise in pan until double, about 30-45 minutes. Bake at 375° for 12-15 minutes until brown on top and done in the center.
