Kahlua Savory Stuffing
This stuffing has everything in it but the kitchen sink. Tammy’s favorite!
ingredients
- 3 qts. coarse day old bread crumbs
- 3/4 cup low fat margarine
- 2 cups chopped onions
- 2 cups chopped celery
- 1 cup chopped mushrooms
- 2 cups golden raisins
- 1 cup browned, crumbled chicken or turkey sausage (any flavor is great)
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup fat free, low sodium chicken or turkey broth
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/3 cup Kahlua
- 1/4 cup chopped, fresh parsley
- 2 tsp. dried thyme, crushed
- 2 tsp. grated orange peel
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. dried sage
- 1/2 tsp. pepper

1. Preheat oven to 350°F

2. Bake bread crumbs for 5 minutes. Stir.

3. Continue baking 5 minutes longer until lightly toasted.

4. Remove from oven.

5. Place in large bowl.

6. In large skillet, melt margarine.

7. Add vegetables; sauté lightly.

8. Remove from heat; add balance of ingredients.

9. Pour over bread crumbs.

10. Toss to moisten evenly, add additional broth if necessary.

11. Stuff turkey.

12. Makes about 3 qts stuffing, enough for a 12-14 lb. turkey.
