Joe froggers

Makes 3 dozen cookies

ingredients

1/3 cup water
1/2 teaspoon rum flavoring
4 cups of sifted flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons cloves
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar

directions

Sift together flour, salt, ginger, nutmeg and allspice. Combine water and rum. Combine soda and molasses. Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar. Add half of the dry ingredients and half of the water and rum then half of the molasses. blend well after each addition. Repeat for the other half. Chill the resulting dough over night. On a well floured surface roll the dough to about 1/4 in thick and cut with cookie cutters. Bake on a greased cookie sheet in a 375 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.
