Sour Cream Chocolate Cake
ingredients
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 3 (1 ounce) squares chocolate
- 1 cup “soured” cream (add 1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar to sour)
- 2 teaspoons soda
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 teaspoon salt

Sift flour, salt, and 1 teaspoon soda. Add slowly to creamed mixture, then add melted chocolate.

Put 1 teaspoon of soda in “soured” cream and add alternately with flour mixture. Add vanilla and boiling water, slowly, beating for about 1 to 2 minutes.

Put in greased and floured pan. Bake for about 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
