Spanish Rice

My favorite dish my mom started making in my teen years was Spanish Rice. This is similar, only with more seasonings and spices.

servings:Serves 4

  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 2 T bacon grease
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 med. onion, chopped
  • 1 med. green pepper, chopped
  • 2 c water
  • 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 c uncooked, long grain rice
  • 2 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 t chili powder
  • 1/2 t dried thyme
  • 1/4 t hot pepper sauce
  • 1/8 t cayenne pepper(optional)
  • black pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of cooked and crumbled bacon

You can forget the bacon grease if you like and use 2T butter or margarine. If you think you would like it moister, use a 15 oz. can of sauce instead of the 8 oz. can.
