Kentucky State Fair BBQ Sauce

Makes 10 gallons !

I thought this is a fun recipe to have. It’s really great sauce, so try reducing the quantities!!!!

ingredients

  • 8 large onions-pureed
  • 3/4 gallon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 pound bacon**
  • 6 cups molasses
  • 3 pounds dark brown sugar
  • 2/3 gallon cidar vinegar (5%)
  • 2 quarts water
  • 6 ounces beef broth
  • 1 quart uncooked hot sauce(adjust this quantity to taste!)
  • 2 quarts beer
  • 1 cup oregano
  • 1/2 gallon regular yellow mustard
  • 24 ounces Coke
  • 1 cup R & R rub(low seasoned salt)
  • 10 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 20 tablespoons black pepper
  • 5 tablespoons onion powder
  • 10 tablespoons lemon pepper
  • 10 tablespoons steak seasoning (by Montreal)
  • 10 tablespoons chili powder
  • 10 tablespoons paprika
  • 4-#10 (7lbs 3 oz) ketchup

    Cook together everything but the ketchup.

    Add ketchup while on a smoker for about 1/2 hour to darken.

notes

**Bacon: can omit & sauce will keep for 2 months if using the bacon, the sauce will keep for 30 days.
