Cookie Balls
Uncooked cookie/candy/truffle
ingredients
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 3 Tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup Pet evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 2 1/2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
- coverings: coconut, chopped nuts, colored sugar, sprinkles
directions
Melt chocolate chips, mix in milk, sugar, syrup and vanilla. Add sugar and mix until smooth. Add nuts. Fold in wafers 1/4 at a time. Let stand at room temperature for 1/2 hour. Roll in 1“ balls, then in favorite ”coverings"

I first made these with my Aunt Wilma in the 1960s. My cousins on Dad's side of the family fondly called them "Cannon Balls" and an amazing number of them were consumed on Christmas Eve every year.
