Classic Spaghetti Sauce

A rich and savory spaghetti sauce!

ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 - 12 oz. cans tomato paste
  • 1 4 oz. can mushrooms (drained)
  • 3 T. brown sugar
  • Salt to taste (start with 1 t.)
  • 1/2 t. Tabasco
  • 1 heaping t. oregano
  • 1 heaping t. Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 heaping t. sweet basil
  • 1 heaping T. Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups water (may need more)
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 large bay leaf

directions

Brown beef, de-fat and drain. Add garlic and remaining ingredients. Simmer for 2 hours. Remove the bay leaf and skim fat.

Serve over your choice of pasta with garlic bread.
