Grandpa Dick's Favorite Gingersnaps
ingredients
- 1/2 C. Crisco solid shortening
- 1/4 C. butter
- 1 C. sugar
- 1/4 C. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 t. baking soda
- 2 C. flour
- 1/2 t cloves
- 1/2 t. ginger
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1 t. cinnamon
directions
Melt shortening and butter in a 3 qt. pan over low heat. COOL. Add sugar, molasses and beaten egg. Mix well. Sift together remaining ingredients, and add to first mixture. Mix well. Chill 1 hour. Scoop by spoonfuls and form into 1“ balls. Roll balls in granulated sugar and placed on greased cookie sheets 2” apart. Bake 350 for 15 minutes or 375 for 15 minutes for crisper cookies.
