Baked Macaroni & Cheese
I make this every Thanksgiving.
ingredients
- 1 - 16-oz box of macaroni
- 1 - 8-oz package of mild cheddar cheese
- 1 - 8 oz package of sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 - 2 cups of milk
- 3 T butter
- 3 T flour
- salt and pepper and cayenne pepper to taste
- 2 beaten eggs
directions
Cook macaroni according to package directions and then add to large baking dish. Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a small pot, add butter and flour and mix the mixture together. Cook the mixture until you get a golden color. Slowly add milk to pot and mix thoroughly. Add seasonings and continue to stir until mixture starts to thicken. When it reaches a creamy consistency, turn off heat and then add package of milk cheddar. Stir until melted. Mix beaten eggs with macaroni in baking dish, then add cheese mixture and stir until all is combined. When done, sprinkle sharp cheddar over top of baking dish and put in oven and bake for about 1 hour or until top is golden brown and bubbly. Let rest for about 20-30 minutes then enjoy.
