Whole Wheat Rolls
Iowa State Fair culinary exhibit recipe
ingredients
- 2 packages yeast
- 1/2 c warm water
- 1 3/4 c milk
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1 T salt
- 3 T shortening
- 2 beaten eggs
- 3 1/2 c whole wheat flour
- 3 1/2 c sifted all purpose flour
directions

1. Soften yeast in warm water.

2. Scald milk and combine with sugar, salt, and shortening; cool to lukewarm.

3. Add yeast mixture and eggs.

4. Add flours.

5. Place the soft dough in greased bowl, turning once to grease surface.

6. Cover and let rise until doubled.

7. Shape into rolls.

8. Let rise in warm place till doubled again.

9. Bake at 350° for 15-20 min.
