Stuffed French Toast
This stuffed french toast is a wonderful treat for guests and family. If filling the bread becomes too difficult use one-inch slices, prepare the french toast and sandwich around the filling. Either way, it’s great.
ingredients
- 4 Two-inch thick slices of Challah Bread
- Butter (as needed)
- Batter-
- 3 Eggs
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- Filling-
- 1 1/2 Cups Cream Cheese (Softened)
- 1/4 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Favorite diced Fruit (Bananas, Strawberries, or even Chocolate Chips)
directions
- 1
In a shallow baking dish whisk all of the ingredients for the batter together until well blended.
- 2
Cream the sugar and cream cheese together in a bowl and then fold in the diced fruit. Spoon into a large zip-top bag and cut the bottom corner so that the fruit will not clog the opening.
- 3
Cut a slit into the bread slices to allow for filling. Insert the open corner of the bag into the slit and pipe in the cream cheese mixture.
- 4
Heat a large saute pan and then add some butter. Dredge the bread in the batter and place in the pan. Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2 minutes.
- 5
Serve with ice cream for a great morning treat.
