Sausage Bread

ingredients

  • 2 cans Pillsbury pizza crust
  • 1-1 1/2 lbs. Italian sausage
  • 8 oz. shredded mozzarella
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • salt
  • pepper
  • Parmesan cheese
  • parsley flakes
  • oregano

    Skin sausage and pan fry until lightly golden brown. Drain grease. In mixing bowl, add sausage, mozzarella, egg, salt and pepper to taste, parsley flakes, oregano and Parmesan cheese. Mix well.

    Roll pizza crust out together on floured board. Pour sausage mixture onto dough spreading evenly, but leaving an inch all around plain. Roll dough like a jelly roll and place on greased cookie sheet, placing open end on the bottom. Pinch ends to secure mixture from coming out.

    Rub egg yolk all over top of bread evenly. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until deep golden brown. Place on rack to cool. Tastes delicious hot or cold.
