Cardamom Bread
Made every Christmas since 1990! Jim’s recipe
ingredients
- 2 1/2-cup milk
- 1-teaspoon salt
- 2 packages dry yeast
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2-cup sugar
- 3/4 butter
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 beaten eggs
- 9 cups of flour

Combine milk, salt and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Heat till just hotter that you can put finger into then remove from heat. Melt butter in a cup. Dissolve yeast in warm water with the 1 tablespoon of sugar added to water. When milk is just warm, add yeast, melted butter, eggs, and cardamom.

Add 3 cups of flour to make a sponge. Let rise 1 hour. Add enough flour to make stiff dough. Knead 10 minutes. Let rise until doubles. Punch down, shape into flour loaves, let rise again until double.

Bake at 375 for 40 minutes.
