Macaroni au gratin
ingredients
- 1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 4 cups (1 lb) shredded New York sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 tsp salt

Cook macaroni according to package directions,

omitting salt, drain well. Combine cooked macaroni,

eggs, milk, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl;
- 4
stir well. Spoon half of macaroni mixture into a
- 5
greased 2 1/2 quart shallow baking dish. Sprinkle
- 6
with half of cheese. Repeat layers with remaining
- 7
macaroni mixture and cheese, ending with cheese. Bake
- 8
at 300 degrees for 30 minutes; increase temperature to
- 9
400 degrees, and bake and additional 10 minutes or
- 10
until lightly browned.
