Pappy's Southern Rolls
Recipe credited to Hathorn side of family.
ingredients
- 1 envelope Yeast
- 1/2 C Shortening (melted)
- 1 T Sugar
- 1 t Salt
- 3 C Flour
- 1/4 lb Butter
- 1/3 C Milk
- 3 Eggs
- 1/3 C Lukewarm water

Dissolve yeast in water for 10 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 Fahrenheit.

Drop eggs into mixing bowl, add melted shortening, milk, dissolved yeast, sugar, and salt. Beat well and begin working in flour.

Knead continuously in bowl until its a good, smooth and elastic dough. Cover and let rest in a warm place for 45 minutes.

Punch down dough. Cut off small pieces about 1 tablespoon size and place in greased muffin pan.

Let rise in a warm place until roll is high as the pan.

Bake for about 8-12 minutes. Brush with butter while warm.
