ingredients

  • 3/4 cup firmly packed dark or light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp.baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. each of allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt

Beat sugar and butter in large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs and molasses. Stir together dry ingredients in separate bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients to sugar mixture until well blended. Refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour or until easy to handle. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease the bottom of the cookie sheets. On lightly floured surface roll out 1/2 of dough at a time to 1/8" thickness. Cut into shapes and place on greased cookie sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Add alittle icing and decorations and you’ve got yourself some yummy cookies! Enjoy!
