Kathy's Classic Lasagna
ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 3/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 T. salad oil
- 1 can (1 lb.) tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 oz. each) tomato paste
- 2 cups water
- 1 T. chopped parsley
- 2 t. salt
- 1 t. sugar
- 1 t. garlic powder
- 1/2 t. pepper
- 1/2 t. oregano
- 1/2 package (8 oz.) lasagna noodles
- 1 lb. ricotta cheese
- 8 oz. mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup parmesan cheese
directions
In large heavy pan, lightly brown beef and onion in oil. Add tomatoes (put through blender or cut with edge of spoon), tomato paste, parsley, water, salt, sugar, garlic powder, pepper, and oregano. Simmer until uncovered, stirring occasionally about 30 minutes. Meanwhile cook noodles as directed; drain. In 9x13x2 inch pan, spread 1 cup of sauce. Then alternate layers of lasagna, sauce, parmesan, mozzarella, and ricotta. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. until lightly browned and bubbling. Allow to stand for 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
