Chocolate Macaroon Cake
Grandma Helen made this. The brown sugar frosting is distinctive.
ingredients
Cake batter and macaroon filling- One German chocolate cake mix mixed according to directions.
- 3 cups unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Mix cake mix according to instructions and then pour half of batter into greased jelly roll bar pan.

Combine coconut, condensed milk and vanilla and drop by spoonfuls over cake batter in pan. Pour remaining batter over top and then bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes.

For frosting, melt butter and brown sugar together in sauce pan. Boil together for one minute and then add 1/4 cup milk and bring to boil again. Remove pan from heat and add powdered sugar. Beat frosting with mixer until it thickens. Frost cake and cool on rack.
