Texas Chocolate Cake
Great cake to make for a crowd. Recipe was Grandma Jan’s favorite.
ingredients
- 2 sticks butter(1 cup)
- 1 cup water
- 4 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- Frosting
- 1 stick butter(1/2 cup)
- 4 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 6 Tbsp milk
- 1 box powdered sugar(3 cups)
- 1 tsp vanilla
- dash salt
- 1 cup pecans-chopped

Bring to boil in a large pan butter,water and cocoa. Remove from heat and add flour,sugar,salt,baking soda and vanilla. Beat in the eggs and sour cream, then pour into a greased 11x16 pan (jelly roll pan). Bake at 375 degrees 20-30 minutes.

While cake is baking prepare frosting in pan, heat butter,cocoa and milk till melted. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar,vanilla,salt and nuts.

When cake is done cool cake for 5 minutes then pour frosting on cake and spread evenly.
