Dinosaur Barbecue Mutha Sauce
Sure you could just go to the Dinosaur for dinner, but do you really want to wait for a table? Now you can make their sauce at home instead.
ingredients
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup onion, minced
- 1/2 cup green pepper, minced
- 1 cup jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
- pinch kosher salt and pepper
- 2 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 28 oz can tomato sauce
- 2 cups Heinz Ketchup
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup cayenne pepper sauce, such as Franks’ Red Hot
- 1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsps coarsely ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 1 tbsp liquid smoke
directions
Pour the oil in to a large saucepan and set over medium heat. Toss in the onions, green peppers and jalapenos and give them a stir. Season with a pinch of kosher salt and pepper and cook until soft and golden. Add the garlic and cook for one minute more. Dump in everything else except the Liquid Smoke. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat so the sauce simmers. Simmer for ten minutes. Swirl in the liquid smoke and let the sauce cool. Pour it in to a container, cover, and store in the fridge until ready to use.
