Granny Bragg's Fried Chicken
The best fried chicken ever!
ingredients
- 1 c. buttermilk
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- whole cut up chicken
- 1 c. flour (all purpose)
- 2 cups peanut oil (for frying)
directions

Season chicken with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Put in ziplock bag with 1 cup butter milk and soak over night.

Heat 2 cups oil in a large cast iron skillet. Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in flour.

Fry until golden brown about 8 mins per side.
notes
I usually fry the breasts and thighs first, they take longer to cook. I also use a deep sided cast iron pan to fry the chicken.
