ingredients

  • 3 pounds ground beef or veal
  • 1 large diced onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 3 dashes Worchestershire sauce
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • salt, pepper
  • Celery leaves from 3-4 stalks
  • 1 carrot, shredded
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 potatoes, quartered
  • 4 carrots, cut into 3 inch pieces

    Mix together beef, onion, eggs, mustard, Worchestershire, salt, pepper and breadcrumbs. Form into loaf. Place in loaf pan.

    Place celery leaves and shredded carrot over loaf. Combine catsup and water and pour over loaf. Surround loaf with potatoes and carrots.

    Cook 1 1/2 hours covered at 350 degrees. Uncover and cook for 1/2 hour more.
