Sissy Shortbread
This is another easy bread recipe with very few ingredients and no yeast! These buttery little biscuits make a great breakfast or snack with a cup of tea and some jam.
ingredients
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white or brown sugar
directions
- 1
Mix sugar and butter until creamy and well combined. A sturdy fork and some elbow grease can easily accomplish this if you don’t have an electric mixer.
- 2
Gently stir in flour. Mix until just combined.
- 3
Form dough into a ball or a flat disk and wrap with plastic wrap. Chill for an hour in the fridge.
- 4
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 5
Sprinkle a little flour on your counter and place dough on it. Roll or pat it out dough to form a circle of uniform thickness, about 1/2" thick.
- 6
Place circle on baking sheet and bake 12-15 minutes. Bread should be lightly browned and crumbly to the touch.
- 7
Slice round into equal wedges, between 12 and 18 pieces. Allow pieces to cool and store in an airtight container for 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.
notes
Take your butter out 20 or so minutes before you plan on making this to get it nice and soft.
