Buttermilk Fried Chicken
submitted by Alexandra
I learned how to make this Fried Chicken from Ms. Bernice, Camp Chandler’s cook. She was famous for her fried chicken. And rightly so!
ingredients
- 1 pkg. chicken parts
- 2 tbsp of white vinegar
- Lawry’s Seasoning Salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. each salt, black pepper, cayene pepper
- Peanut oil preferred
directions
- 1
Clean and wash chicken. Clean your kitchen sink thoroughly. Make sure none of the cleaner is left behind.
- 2
Fill the kitchen sink with warm water. Mix in vinegar and a pinch of salt. Soak at least 30 minutes.
- 3
After soaking, set chicken on baking trays. Pat chicken dry. Powder with Lawry’s Seasoning Salt. Leave for 10-15 minutes.
- 4
Mix flour with cornstarch, salt, pepper, and cayene pepper. Dip chicken in buttermilk and then in flour mixture and let stand on rack for a few minutes to set. Heat oil in a deep fryer and fry chicken until golden brown. Yum!
