Easy Cheese Bread

KathyKathy Otte

ingredients

  • 16 oz. loaf French bread
  • 1 1/2 cups Monterrey Jack/Colby cheese
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 T. parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp. ground red pepper

directions

Cut diagonally into bread at 1" intervals, cutting almost all the way through. (that is, sliced the bread like for Texas Toast, but don’t cut all the way down.) Put on large piece of foil. Combine rest of ingredients and spread 1 cup of mixture between the slices and put the rest on top of the loaf. Place foil over top without pressing top of loaf. Bake at 425° for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake 5 minutes longer.

notes

You could also slice the loaf horizontally & spread half the mixture on the cut side of both halves.
