Nana's Chicken Soup
This is the traditional, salt-loaded recipe. Enjoy with the shiitake matzah balls.
ingredients
- 1 large leek
- 3 to 4 celery hearts with leaves still attached, sliced into small pieces
- 3 to 4 carrots, peeled and sliced
- A handful of dill
- A handful of Italian (flat-leaf) parsley
- A few cloves garlic, chopped (optional)
- 1 bottom half (dark meat) of chicken, cut up
- 2 quarts boiling water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
