Gingerbread Cookies
ingredients
- 2 1/4 C flour
- 1/2 C sugar
- 1/2 C shortening
- 1/2 C light molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 t cinnamon
- 1 t ginger
- 1 t cloves
- 1/2 t nutmeg
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 t baking powder
- 1/2 t baking soda
- white icing

Combine all dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Mix all liquid ingredients in a separate bowl. Blend the liquid ingredients and dry ingredients and mix well.

Refrigerate 1 hour. Place dough on lightly floured surface and roll out to 1/8" thick. Cut out cookies with gingerbread man cutter.

Bake at 350° for about 8 minutes or until cookies start to puff up and brown. Decorate when cool.
