Chocolate Sheet Cake
A deliciously, decadent chocolate cake!
ingredients
- Cake
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 3 T cocoa
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 cup water
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Icing
- 1 stick butter
- 3 T cocoa
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 bag powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup nuts (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 400

2. Grease and flour jelly roll pan.

3. Sift flour and sugar together.

4. Melt butter in pan, add cocoa, oil and water (gradually) and bring to a boil.

5. Remove from heat and add to flour mixture.

6. Add 2 eggs and buttermilk in which 1 tsp backing soda has been dissolved (mix baking soda with approximately 1 T buttermilk then add to remaining buttermilk to avoid lumps.)

7. Add vanilla and beat well. Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan

8. Bake for 25 minutes

9. Prepare icing 5 minutes before cake is finished.

10. Bring butter, cocoa, and milk to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth.

11. Spread icing on top of hot cake
