Tomato Soup Cake & Gumdrop or Cherry Cake
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 3 tsp. b. powder
  • 1/2 cup cherries
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tin tomato soup
  • 1 tsp cloves
Gumdrop or Chery Cake
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. b. powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon
  • 1/2 lb. gumdrops or cherries
  • 1/2 tsp. almond
  • 1/2 tsp. strawberry
  • 1 cup hot milk

Tomato Soup Cake

Dissolve 1 tsp of baking soda into the can of tomato soup. Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl. Add the soup to the butter and sugar mixture and mix together. Combine all the dry ingredients together in a separate bowl. And the dry ingredients to the soup mixture and mix well. Bake in greased pan for 1 hour at 325-350. Check during baking.

Gumdrop or Cherry Cake

First cream the butter and sugar together. Next beat the eggs in the butter mixture and mix well. Mix in flavorings. Sift all the dry ingredients together in another bowl. Get the milk ready. Begin with dry ingredients and add a little to the butter mixture and then a little milk. Beat each time until all ingredients are mixed together. Add gumdrops. If they are sticky rub them with flour before adding. If you wish t make this a cherry cake use red candied cherries instead of gumdrops.Bake in a tube pan at 325 for 1 hr.
