Oriental Pork Chops
ingredients
- Marinade:
- 1/3c soy sauce
- 1/4c cooking oil
- 1 Tbs finely shredded orange peel
- 1/4c orange juice
- 1/4c finely chopped green pepper
- 1 Tbs brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 4 pork loin or rib chops, cut 1 1/4in thick (about 2 1/4lbs total)
- 4 cups hickory wood chips or mesquite (optional)
directions
- 1
In a small mixing bowl combine all of the marinade ingredients.
- 2
Trim fat from meat. Place pork chops in a plastic bag set into a deep bowl. Pour marinade over chops in bag. Seal bag and turn chops to coat well.. Marinate in the refrigerator for 6-24 hours, turning bag occasionally. Remove chops from bag, reserving marinade. Chill marinade while grilling meat.
- 3
If using, at least 1 hour before grilling, soak, wood chips in enough water to cover. Drain the chips before using.
- 4
In a covered grill arrange preheated coals around a drip pan. Test for medium heat above the pan. If using, sprinkle 1c of the drained wood chips onto the preheated coals. Place pork chops on the grill rack over the drip pan. Cover and grill for 35-50 min or till juices run clear, turning once and brushing with reserved marinade after 25 min. Add additional drained wood chips, if using, as necessary.
notes
Super easy and simply sensational. Marinate the chops one night, and grill them the next.
