Straberry Pretzel Layered Dessert
A wonderful combination of sweet and salty. This recipe doubles the creamy center mixture for a more balanced combination of the 3 layers.
ingredients
- 2 C crushed pretzels
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3/4 C butter, melted
- 1 C white sugar
- 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
- 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 (6 ounce) package strawberry flavored gelatin
- 1 C boiling water
- 1 C cold water
- 3 cups fresh strawberries, chopped
directions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°. Combine the pretzels, 3 tablespoons sugar and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool completely.
- 2
In a food processor, cream the sugar and cream cheese until smooth. Transfer to a bowl and fold in whipped topping. Spread evenly over the cooled crust. Use a little less if you prefer a thinner cream cheese layer. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes.
- 3
In a medium bowl, stir together the gelatin mix and boiling water until gelatin is dissolved. Stir in cold water and strawberries. Pour over cream cheese mixture in pan. Refrigerate until completely chilled, at least 1 hour.
notes
If fresh strawberries are not available, frozen can be used, although it is not as good.
