Brunch Casserole

Makes 9 x 13 casserole pan

Requires overnight in refrigerator before baking.

ingredients

  • 1 loaf sourdough/white bread
  • 2 1/2 cups grated cheddar or jack cheese
  • Ham cut into chunks
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp dry mustard
  • Butter or margarine

    Cut crust off bread, butter one side of bread slice and lay butteed side down to line 9 x 13 casserole pan. Sprinkle 1/2 of the grated cheese on top of bread and then layer with 1/2 of the ham chunks. Top with another layer of buttered bread slices. This time have bread slices with buttered side up. Sprinkle with remaining grated cheese and ham chunks.

    Beat together eggs, milk, salt and dry mustard. Pour over casserole and refrigerate overnight.

    Bake uncovered at 325° for 45 minutes.
