Feather Sponge Cake
This one’s actually all official--printed in green ink on a recipe card from the fine folks at Marion-Kay Products Co., Inc., Brownstown, Ind., who are evidently manufacturers of Angel Food Flavor (one of the more baffling artificial flavors I’ve come across--is angel food cake a flavor? How many angel food cakes does one need to juice to get a bottle of angel food cake flavoring? The mind boggles.).
ingredients
- 6 Egg Yolks
- 1 1/2 Cups Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Cold Water
- 1 Tsp. Marion-Kay Angel Food Flavor
- 1 1/2 Cups Flour
- 1/4 Tsp. Salt
- 3/4 Tsp. Cream of Tartar
- 6 Egg Whites
directions
Beat egg yoks until thick and lemon colores. Add water and continue beating until very thick. Add sugar slowly and then the M-K Angel Food Flavor. Fold in four and salt, slowly. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat until they form moist glossy peaks. Fold in yolk mixture. Put in 10" Angel Food Pan. Bake 1 hour at 325 mdegrees. Invert to cool.
