Mac & Cheese with Potato Chip Crust
ingredients
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 4 c. milk, warm
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- dash salt
- dash ground black pepper
- dash Worchestershire
- 3 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 lb. elbow macaroni, cooked al dente
- 1 c. crushed potato chips
- 5 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 c. freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Heat oven to 350°.

Melt butter in large saucepot over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring for 1 minute.

Whisk in warm milk and bring to a boil, continue to whisk constantly. Mixture will thicken as heat increases.

Continue to stir while adding the dry mustard, nutmeg, cayenne, salt, pepper and Worchestershire.

Stir in Cheddar cheese until it melts.

Pour mixture over pasta and add to 3 qt. casserole dish.

Sprinkle the chips, Parmesan and bacon on top. Bake for 35 minutes.
