ingredients

  • 5 cups ground roast beef
  • 12 diced tart apples granny smith)
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped orange peel
  • 2 large oranges chopped pulp
  • 33 ounces currants
  • 3 lb raisins
  • 2 lbs brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon allspice
  • 2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. ginger
  • 1 quart apple cider or grape juice

    Mix all together in large kettle.

    Simmer 1 hour. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.

    place canning jars and lids in a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Pack

    hot jars up to one inch of top with mincemeat. Adjust caps. Process jars 20 min. at 10 lbs pressure.

Bake 375 for 20-30 min until bubbling from center
