Overnight Orange-Pecan McKay House Toast
This recipe pairs well with pure maple syrup or fresh fruit.

- 2/3 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon orange zest or lemon zest
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur
- 1 (8 ounce)loaf Italian or French bread, cut in 1 inch thick slices.
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 cup pecan pieces

With a wire whisk, beat together eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg, vanilla, orange zest and orange liqueur. Place bread in a snug single layer in a casserole. Pour mixture over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight, turning once.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour melted butter on a jelly roll pan, spreading evenly. Arrange soaked bread slices in a single layer on pan. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake until golden, about 20 to 25 minutes.

Also recommended for bread is Empire Sourdough. The longer you cook this recipe, the thicker it becomes.
