Grandpa's Chili
This was Grandpa Jelinski’s Chili. It’s wonderful and perfect in the winter with some cornbread!
ingredients
- 3 lb hamburger
- 2 onions, chopped
- 1/4c green pepper, diced
- 2c celery, chopped
- 1/2t oregano
- salt/pepper
- 2t sugar
- 3 beef bouillon cubes
- pickling spices in a tea ball
- chili powder (to taste)
- 48 oz canned diced tomatoes
- 1c elbow macaroni
- 6 large cans tomato juice
- 2 cans red kidney beans

1. Brown hamburger with onions, pepper and celery. Skim off fat.

2. Put beef mixture into very large stock pot (16 quarts). Add spices, tomatoes and juice. Simmer for 40 minutes.

3. Add macaroni. Cook for 20 minutes.

4. Add beans and cook for 5 minutes.

5. Serve hot!

Serve this up with sour cream, shredded cheese, and some cornbread! Could also be made in a big ol' crockpot. Tastes better the day after than the first night.
