Thanksgiving Turkey Stuffing
Mom has made this stuffing since the beginning of time, it is a family favorite
ingredients
- 1/2 lb bulk pork sausage
- 2 Tblsp. butter
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 lb. chopped fresh mushrooms
- 3 cups cooked rice
- 2 cups water - too much, try 1/2 cup
- 1 cup white wine (I use about 1/2 cup)
- 2 cups diced celery
- 1/2 cup chopped celery leaves
- 3 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. poultry seasoning
directions
Brown sausage in saucepan or skillet. Add butter, onion and mushrooms, saute 3 minutes. Add rice, water, wine, celery, celery leaves, salt and poultry seasoning. Mix just to moisten all rice. Bring quickly to a boil over high heat. Cover, remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes. Spoon stuffing loosely into neck and body cavities of turkey. Close openings and truss.
