Pulla - Finn Sweet Bread
ingredients
- 1/2 - 3/4 cup warm water
- 5 tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp. yeast
- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup cold cubed butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cardamom

Combine water, 1 tbsp of sugar and yeast. Let stand until bubbly. Combine flour, butter, salt, cardamom and sugar into the bowl.

Add yeast mixture to flour mixture and 1 egg and mix with dough hook. Allow to mix until dough forms a ball that cleans sides of bowl.

Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Shape into a ball and place in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand until doubled.

Punch down dough & divide dough into 3 equal parts shape into strands. Braid strands together and place on a greased cookie sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand until doubled. Heat oven to 375 degrease. Beat remaining egg and brush over braid. Sprinkle with course sugar and/or almonds. Bake 20-25 minutes.
