Peanut Blossoms

Recipe from Grandma Rosie Garber.

ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cps. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cp. shortening
  • 1/2 cp. peanut butter
  • 1/2 cp. white sugar
  • 1/2 cp. brown sugar
  • 1 unbeaten egg
  • 2 tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 package Hershey kisses-unwrap

directions

    Sift together flour, soda and salt. Cream together shortening and peanut butter. Gradually add in sugars and cream well. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Blend in dry ingredients gradually, mix thoroughly.

    Shape by rounded teaspoon into balls. Roll in sugar and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and place Hershey kiss on top of each cookie pressing down so cookie cracks around edge. Return to oven; bake 2 to 5 minutes longer until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool.
