Macaroni Grill Bread
This is just like the original and you don’t have to leave your house.
ingredients
- 1 Tbsp dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 1/2 cup white flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 Tbsp canola oil, peanut oil or olive oil
- 2 Tbsp butter
directions
- 1
Place yeast, sugar and water in large bowl or food processor and allow mixture to become bubbly.
- 2
Mix in 2 cups of flour and the salt. Add 1 Tbsp of the fresh chopped rosemary. Knead for about 10 minutes by hand or in food processor about 30 seconds until smooth and elastic. Add flour if necessary.
- 3
Oil a bowl, put dough in it and cover with a towel. Let dough rise in a warm place for one hour until doubled.
- 4
Punch dough down and divide in half. Let dough rest about 5-10 minutes. Spray baking pan or cookie sheet with cooking spray. Shape the dough into 2 small round oval loaves.
- 5
Melt margarine or butter. Brush over the top of the loaves. Sprinkle remaining 1 Tbsp of rosemary over the loaves and press lightly into the surface. Let rise again until doubled, about 45 minutes
- 6
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- 7
Lightly sprinkle coarse salt over the loaves. Bake for 7 minutes then open oven and brush loaves with butter. Continue cooking another 7 minutes and then open oven and brush loave with butter. Continue cooking another minute or until tops are golden brown. Usual cooking time is 13-18 minutes.
- 8
This makes 2 loaves. If you have an extra, put it in the freezer. To warm it up, take it out an hour or so before dinner. About 5 minutes before dinner is ready, put it in a 350 degree oven for 5 minutes to warm it up a bit.
