Chicken Cacciatore

ingredients

  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 1/2 to 3 pound chicken pieces
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 8 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1/4 t. pepper
  • 1 t. oregano
  • 1/2 t. basil
  • 1/2 t. celery seed (optional)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine

directions

Place sliced onions on bottom of crock pot. Add chicken pieces, garlic, tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, herbs and wine. Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours (High 2 1/2 to 4 hours). Serve chicken pieces with sauce over hot spaghetti noodles.

Slow cooking the chicken makes the meat fall off the bones.
