ingredients
- CAKE:
- 1/3 c crisco
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 c sugar
- 1 egg unbeaten
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 3/4 sifted flour
- 3/4 c milk (2 Tbl more milk at times)
- Extra Smooth Chocolate Icing:
- 3 c sifted confectioners sugar
- 1/3 c undiluted carnation milk
- 4 squares melted unsweetened chocolate
- 1/3 c softened butter or margarine

Preheat oven to 425°

Cake:

Combine crisco, salt, vanilla and cream well. Add egg and beat until creamy.

Add baking soda to 1 3/4 cups of the sifted flour and sift 3 more times.

Add small amount of the flour to the cream mixture, add milk a little at a time after each addition until smooth.

Put batter into greased cupcake pans. Bake 15-18 min.

Extra Smooth Chocolate Icing:

Combine sugar with milk and cooled chocolate and blend well. Stir in softened butter and beat until light and fluffy.
